Adult Outpatient Services
Objective The basic objective of Adult Outpatient (AOP) Services is to utilize brief, short-term therapy to respond to mental health needs of individuals. Group, family, and marital therapy are offered in addition to individual psychotherapy. The emphasis of AOP is on providing services in a manner that enables the individual to return to his/her normal routine as soon as possible.
Client Profile Clients who are identified as having problems that are not chronic or severe and would respond favorably to brief therapy are seen by the staff of Adult Outpatient Services. Individuals who may initially have received services through another more "restrictive" program at HSC may also be referred to AOP as their problems become less acute.
Staff Therapists in AOP include licensed social workers and counselors with advanced degrees in the behavioral sciences. Consultation is also provided by board certified psychiatrists and licensed psychologists. Program Coordination The AOP's staff identifies self-help groups and other social service agencies that may be included as part of the individual's service plan. The aim is to utilize whatever community resources are available and relevant to the needs of the client.
