Dennis W. Nebel, Psy.D has served as the Executive Director
of the Human Services Center since 1992. He has over 30 years of experience
in the mental health field. As executive director, Dr. Nebel has orchestrated
the introduction of a number of new programs, which involved the expansion
of HSC’s staff from 100 in 1992 to over 200 in 2005. In 1997, the
Center was recognized by the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce as the
“Business of the Year”. Prior to assuming his current position,
he served as clinical director of the Center. Dr. Nebel received his bachelor’s
degree from St. Vincent College, his master’s degree from St. Francis
College, and his Psy.D. from Baylor University.
Mark Matta, D.O. is the Medical Director of the Human
Services Center. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in neuroscience
from Allegheny College and a Doctor of Osteopathy from the Philadelphia
College of Osteopathic Medicine. From 2003–2007 he performed his
psychiatric residency at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. In
addition to serving as HSC’s Medical Director, Dr. Matta is also
a staff psychiatrist with the behavioral health program of Jameson Hospital
in New Castle.
Roger Smith, Ed.M. has held the position of Director
of Community Services for the Human Services Center for over 20 years.
During his tenure he has been responsible for the development of a variety
of programs. He has secured over 8 million dollars in funding from a variety
of public and private sources to support agency initiatives. He is a summa
cum laude graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and received his master’s
degree from Harvard University.
Jeffrey Stockdale, CPA is the Finance Director for the
Human Services Center. He began his career in public accounting with Ernst
& Young and later served as the finance director for a variety of
organizations in the non-profit sector in Ohio. He completed his Bachelor
of Science degree in Business Administration/Accounting from Ohio State
University in 1988, and became licensed in 1991.
David Aldan, SPHR is the Director of Operations for the
Human Services Center and has served in this capacity for 5 years. He
has 28 years experience in human resources and safety in various organizations,
both for profit and non-profit.
Michele Kelly-Thompson, MA has served as the Director
of Clinical Services since July, 2004. She has been an employee of HSC
for 18 years and served in a variety of clinical/managerial roles including
Director of Outpatient Services and Director of Children’s Services.
She has previous experience in the inpatient psychiatric units as well
as the state correctional setting. She completed both a Bachelor of Arts
and Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from Edinboro University in
1981 and 1982.
Steve Plyler, MA assumed the position of Residential
Director in June of 2004. Prior to this he was the Base Service Unit Director.
He has been employed by HSC since 1991. Mr. Plyler earned his Master of
Arts in Counseling from Slippery Rock University and his Bachelor of Science
degree from Edinboro University.
